Becoming Animal Experts and Sharing Our Memories
We spent a great deal of time collecting and sorting information on our chosen animals this week. During this research process, the kids have learned to use headers not only to find their facts, but also to sort them in a way that they can later go back and write about their animals in an organized manner.  After several weeks of hard work, the kids began publishing their memory stories.  Thank you for all of your help in editing these pieces.  Through these stories, the kids have been able to share a little of themselves with the class, and they cannot wait to add them to our classroom library.  Their growth as writers continues to surpass my expectations!  Also this week, we began a new math inquiry into measurement.

This Coming Week
We will create our final products in our animal study.  These expert projects will be informational posters each student creates to share their new knowledge about their chosen animal.  We will also publish the remainder of our memory stories.   As readers and writers, we will focus on "Reading Like a Writer" and as mathematicians, we will continue our inquiry into measurement.  Parent/ teacher conference day is Friday, so please let me know if you would like to request a conference.
