Final Drafts and Projects

Last week we continued publishing our memory stories.  In science we began putting together our expert projects.  These informational posters will be shared this week as we finish them. Thanks for those who helped gather those last few research facts at home.  In reading, we examined strategies to deal with challenging words.  We appreciate all the strategies our parents shared in the reading logs.  Be sure to check out the photos below to see what we did with them.  Our inquiry into measurement has officially begun.  The kids have investigated measurement through non-standard units, centimeters and inches.

This Coming Week
This week we will continue our inquiry into measurement and finish up those animal projects. Look for an announcement  to come regarding the sharing of our expert projects.  On Friday we will begin a five day series of testing.  This will be CogAT, a cognitive abilities test.  We will test approximately one hour each day so please make sure your child is rested and has a healthy breakfast.  If you know your child is going to be out or arrive late, let us know.

We combined our classroom list and parent list to create a master list of hard word reading strategies and then worked in groups to evaluate and sort them.

Puzzles have become a popular choice during explorations lately. Please feel free to share some with the class if you have extras at home.

Nothing like a friendly dance competition between the classes at recess!
